Data Sources and Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Chemistry Scientists in Serbia Ranking is primarily based on robust bibliometric data obtained from OpenAlex and CrossRef, alongside multiple other reputable data sources. This aggregation ensures comprehensive coverage and accuracy in capturing scientific output. The bibliometric data used to devise the citation-based metrics were collected as of January 12, 2026. A researcher’s position in this ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a specialized metric that exclusively accounts for publications and citation impact within the specific discipline of Chemistry. This focused approach allows for more precise recognition of scholarly contributions within the field.
Scope of Research Considered
To compile this ranking, 279,971 scientist profiles identified from a diverse range of bibliometric data sources spanning all disciplines were examined. From this extensive dataset, 2 scientists specifically within the Chemistry discipline were analyzed in detail. Qualification for inclusion required a minimum D-index of 40, with the majority of an individual’s tier publications firmly situated within Chemistry. Additionally, an assessment of scientists’ awards and notable achievements in Chemistry was incorporated to further validate their professional standing.
The threshold for the D-index is dynamically calibrated in increments of 10, reflective of the estimated total number of scholars in each discipline. This methodology guarantees that the top 1% of leading experts in Chemistry are included in the ranking. Furthermore, candidates are required to have a proximity of 30% or less between their general H-index and their D-index, ensuring their scholarly impact is genuinely rooted in the discipline examined.
Verification and Validation Procedures
The Research.com team fully recognizes that raw bibliometric data alone do not constitute an absolute measure of a scientist’s research output. For this reason, all scientist profiles included in the ranking underwent meticulous manual verification. This process involved extensive cross-correlation of publication records against a wide array of authoritative and trustworthy sources to ensure authenticity and accuracy.
While not a direct factor determining ranking position, the number of papers published in prominent journals and major conference proceedings is presented as a valuable secondary indicator of a scientist’s research contribution within Chemistry. Rankings are ultimately established based on each researcher’s D-index, derived from data curated by OpenAlex and CrossRef—esteemed and widely recognized bibliometric platforms within the global research community.
