Prof. Erol Gelenbe FIEEE FACM FIET FRSS from Imperial College (UK), has been awarded the Honour of “Commandeur de l’Ordre National du Mérite” (Commander of the National Order of Merit of France) for services to higher education and research. The prestigious honor was signed by a decree of President Emanuel Macron dated 29th May 2019.
This is not the first national honour Professor Gelenbe has been awarded. In 2014 he was awarded the Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour), the highest order of merit available for civil and military merits, as well as Commander of the Order of Merit of Italy in 2005.
Professor Gelenbe is among the leading scientists ranked at Guide2Research with an H-index of 83 and over 21000 citations to his publications. He is ranked at position 297 worldwide and 14 within the United Kingdom. He works on various research arenas including cyber security. He is renowned for inventing and applying mathematical models of computer systems and networks, and for pioneering research on Computer and Network Performance.
