The United States retains its global dominance, securing the number one rank with 429 leading scientists, despite a slight decrease from the 468 scholars recorded in the 2025 evaluation. The United Kingdom ranks 2nd with 90 recognized researchers, a marginal drop from 92 in the previous edition. Germany firmly holds 3rd place, representing 63 elite scientists, just as it did in the prior publication.
France demonstrated positive growth by securing the 4th position with 60 scholars, moving up from 5th place in the preceding assessment. The Netherlands dropped from 4th place in the previous report to 5th place with 54 researchers, while China made a powerful debut into the top tier, capturing 6th place with 31 featured experts. Australia also showcased remarkable advancement, moving up from 10th place in the past evaluation to claim 7th rank with 30 researchers.
Rounding out the leaderboard, Switzerland shifted from 7th place in the previous ranking to 8th place, followed by Belgium maintaining 9th place and Canada dropping from 8th to 10th.

The University of Hong Kong showcased strong momentum, moving up from 8th place in the previous report to secure the 4th position with 14 recognized experts. The University of Oxford maintained their 5th place ranking from the past assessment, while the University of California, San Francisco improved its placement from 7th place in 2025 to 6th place this year. Ghent University claims 7th place with 11 distinguished academics.
The University of Pittsburgh also emerged as a leading facility, moving into the top 10 to secure 8th place with 11 scholars, while Aix-Marseille University held 9th place, down from 6th place last year. Conversely, Harvard University experienced a downward shift, dropping from 4th place in the past evaluation to land at 10th place with 10 leading scholars.

When analyzing research output, the top 1% of scholars produced an average of 1,068.8 publications, compared to the overall group average of 407.92.
Similarly, the top 1% received an impressive average of 161,157.6 citations, while the general average for the top 1,000 stood at 42,167.55.
