Wagner College is institutionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Institutional accreditation evaluates the college as a whole; it is distinct from any specialized accreditation or approval that may apply to an individual professional program.
For students, institutional accreditation is relevant to federal financial-aid eligibility and to how other institutions assess coursework. It does not guarantee that another college will accept every transfer credit. Applicants to nursing or another field leading to a regulated profession should separately verify the specific program's current accreditation, state approval and licensing eligibility in the jurisdiction where they intend to practice.
First-year admission to Wagner College is not open admission. Applicants generally need an undergraduate application, a secondary-school record, evidence of high school completion or an accepted equivalent, and a recommendation. Wagner considers secondary-school GPA and expects college-preparatory coursework; class rank may be considered but is not required.
SAT and ACT scores are considered when submitted, but are not required under the reported admissions policy. In the entering class reflected in the admissions figures, relatively few enrolled students submitted either test, so a test-score range would describe only a subset of the class. Applicants should confirm the policy for their entry term and intended program before deciding whether to submit scores.
Wagner received 2,566 first-year applications and admitted 2,258 applicants in the reported cycle, an acceptance rate of about 88%. Acceptance is not the same as enrollment: 454 first-year students enrolled. Applicants whose previous instruction was not in English should check the college's applicable English-proficiency requirements, including its TOEFL policy and any permitted alternatives. Program-specific materials and the current deadlines for each application round also warrant a separate check.
Wagner's reported undergraduate application fee is $60. An application fee is charged for applying; it is separate from any deposit an admitted student might later pay to secure a place.
Applicants seeking a fee waiver should review the waiver options in the application they use and ask Wagner's admissions office about eligibility before submitting payment. Waiver procedures can differ by application route or applicant category. A student should not assume that a request made after a paid submission will result in a refund.
Students interested in ROTC should establish the available arrangement for their intended branch before treating it as part of a Wagner enrollment plan. Participation through a nearby host institution, when authorized, is different from Wagner operating an Army, Air Force or Navy ROTC unit on its own campus.
The practical questions are whether Wagner students may cross-enroll with a particular host program, whether ROTC classes and training fit their academic schedule, and how transportation would work. Scholarships have separate selection rules, and commissioning can carry a military service obligation. Applicants should obtain branch-specific eligibility and enrollment instructions from the host ROTC program rather than assume that ordinary college admission enrolls them in ROTC.
Wagner accepts transfer applicants for fall and spring entry and generally considers coursework from other accredited institutions. Applicants should be prepared to submit official transcripts from every college attended and to meet any additional requirements tied to their intended program.
Transfer admission and transfer-credit acceptance are separate decisions. Wagner may award credit for eligible prior coursework, including qualifying CLEP examinations, but the way credit applies to a major or graduation requirement needs an individual evaluation. Students with AP credit or prior learning experience should likewise distinguish an award of credit from satisfaction of a particular degree requirement.
Before committing to enroll, a transfer applicant should request an official review showing which courses fulfill general education, major and elective requirements and how many Wagner credits remain. That review is especially important for nursing and other sequenced programs, where accepted credits may not shorten the time needed to complete required courses or placements.
Wagner students interested in study abroad should plan it with academic advising rather than assume that any overseas course will count toward their degree. Options can vary by destination, term and program, including short-term experiences and study through approved external providers.
Before paying a program deposit, students should seek written approval for the proposed courses and ask how the credits will appear on a Wagner record. They should also compare the program's calendar and total costs with Wagner's academic schedule and financial-aid rules. Nursing, education and other tightly sequenced majors may have fewer workable terms abroad, making early planning particularly useful.
