Strayer University is institutionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Institutional accreditation applies to the university as a whole; the Chamblee location should not be mistaken for a separately accredited university.
Strayer identifies business-program accreditation through the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). That is different from institutional accreditation and should be checked against the exact degree a student intends to enter. Accreditation is relevant to federal financial-aid eligibility, but it does not guarantee that another college will accept transferred credit. Students pursuing a licensed occupation should separately verify that their program meets the applicable state board's educational requirements.
Strayer University-Georgia reports an open-admission policy for entering students. Applicants seeking an undergraduate degree generally need to complete the university's application and document high school graduation or an accepted equivalent, such as a GED.
Open admission should not be read as automatic entry into every program or course. Graduate programs have their own prior-degree requirements, and applicants with previous college work should supply transcripts for evaluation. Strayer does not present SAT or ACT scores as a general undergraduate admission requirement. Applicants educated outside the United States or in a language other than English may need additional credential or English-proficiency review.
Strayer operates on an academic calendar with multiple entry points rather than a single traditional fall intake. A prospective student should verify the start date, document deadline, and any program-specific conditions for the quarter in which they intend to enroll.
Applicants should distinguish the cost of submitting a Strayer University application from tuition and other charges assessed after enrollment. Strayer has advertised a no-fee standard application, but an applicant should verify the charge shown for their particular program and application route before submitting it.
If the application carries no charge, a fee waiver is unnecessary. That does not mean enrollment is free: tuition, required fees, and any applicable course materials remain separate costs. Graduate applicants and students using a special partnership or employer arrangement should check the terms that apply to them.
Prospective students should not assume that Strayer University-Georgia operates an Army, Air Force, or Navy ROTC unit at its Chamblee location. An on-campus detachment or a formal cross-enrollment arrangement should be confirmed with the relevant ROTC host institution before making an enrollment decision.
ROTC participation, where available through a host college, can involve separate admission, scheduling, physical-fitness, scholarship, and military-service requirements. Military education benefits for eligible service members and veterans are a different form of support; receiving those benefits does not require ROTC participation.
Strayer University generally considers credits from other accredited colleges for transfer, but admission and credit acceptance are separate decisions. Transfer applicants should arrange for official transcripts and request a program-specific evaluation showing how prior coursework applies to their intended degree.
The university also recognizes several alternative routes to credit, including Advanced Placement examinations, CLEP, DSST, and learning evaluated under American Council on Education recommendations. Credit for prior learning may be considered under applicable policies. These options are not interchangeable with guaranteed degree credit: subject matter, scores, course equivalencies, and limits on transferred or nontraditional credit can affect the result.
A useful evaluation should identify both the credits accepted and the requirements still outstanding. Students comparing colleges should also check Strayer's minimum number of credits that must be completed through the university, since a large transfer award may not eliminate that requirement.
Study abroad is not a prominent feature of Strayer University-Georgia's career-oriented, largely flexible model. Students should not assume that a semester-long exchange, a faculty-led overseas course, or an international internship is available through the Chamblee location.
A student considering an outside program would need advance written approval to determine whether its courses could count toward a Strayer degree. Financial-aid treatment also depends on the program and any formal arrangement between institutions; approval for academic credit alone does not establish aid eligibility.
