Amridge University is institutionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, commonly called SACSCOC. Institutional accreditation evaluates the university as an institution; it does not mean that every individual program holds a separate professional accreditation.
Accreditation is important for eligibility to participate in federal student-aid programs and can matter when students seek to transfer credits or pursue further study. Those decisions are still made under the receiving institution's or program's rules. Students entering a field with licensure requirements - particularly counseling or another regulated profession - should separately verify the program's current approvals, supervised-practice requirements and eligibility rules in the state where they intend to work.
Amridge reports an open-admission policy for first-time undergraduate applicants. Open admission does not remove the need to establish eligibility for degree study: applicants should expect to document high school completion or an accepted equivalent and submit the academic records required for their applicant category.
SAT and ACT scores should not be assumed to be universal admission requirements. Among enrolled first-time students in the reported admissions figures, 10% submitted SAT scores and 30% submitted ACT scores; submission rates do not, by themselves, establish a testing policy. Applicants to graduate or professionally oriented programs may face different degree, transcript or program-specific requirements. The appropriate application checklist is the one for the intended credential, rather than a general undergraduate checklist.
The reported application fee for Amridge University is $50. This is an application charge, not tuition, a required academic fee or an enrollment deposit.
Before paying, applicants should check the current application for the amount applicable to their degree level and whether they qualify for a waiver or promotion. A fee waiver should be requested before submitting payment if the application process requires advance approval; applicants should not assume a paid fee can be refunded.
Students should not assume that enrolling at Amridge provides access to an on-campus Army, Air Force or Navy ROTC unit. ROTC participation through another college would require a confirmed cross-enrollment arrangement and approval from the host program.
Someone considering ROTC should ask Amridge's admissions or registrar's office and the prospective host detachment whether Amridge students may participate, how courses would count toward a degree, and whether travel is required. ROTC scholarships have separate selection rules, and some forms of participation carry military service obligations.
Amridge generally accepts transfer credit from other accredited institutions and admits transfer students for fall, spring and summer entry. Admission as a transfer student and acceptance of particular courses toward a degree are separate decisions.
Applicants should arrange for official transcripts from every college attended and request a program-specific credit evaluation. The university also reports accepting Advanced Placement credit, CLEP examinations, DSST/DANTES examinations and credit considered under American Council on Education recommendations. That does not mean every examination or recommended credit will satisfy a particular major requirement. Before enrolling, ask for a written degree plan showing accepted credits, remaining required courses and any minimum amount of study that must be completed through Amridge.
Students considering an overseas course, internship or exchange should obtain academic approval before committing to it. Enrollment at Amridge alone does not establish that a third-party study-abroad program will earn credit toward an Amridge degree.
The practical questions are whether the proposed provider and courses can be approved, how credits will appear on the transcript, and whether the experience fits the degree plan. Financial-aid eligibility and any travel-related costs also need to be checked in advance. These distinctions are especially important for students whose programs are designed primarily for online study.
