UWL's reported six-year graduation rate is 71% for the measured cohort of first-time, full-time students pursuing a bachelor's degree. Its four-year rate is 51%. These figures describe earlier entering cohorts followed over different periods; they do not predict when a particular student will finish.
The difference between the two rates shows why time to degree matters when estimating costs. An additional year can mean further living expenses and delayed full-time earnings even when a student ultimately graduates. UWL also reports an 87% student retention rate, an indicator of how many students continue from one year to the next. Transfer students and part-time students may have different paths that these standard first-time-cohort graduation measures do not fully describe.
College Scorecard field-of-study figures provide a limited view of earnings about one year after program completion for graduates represented in federal data. They are useful for comparing reported outcomes across fields, but they are not a promised starting salary or a measure of every graduate.
For example, the reported one-year figure is $65,658 for computer and information sciences and $54,028 for accounting and related services. Communication and media studies is reported at $35,292. These field categories can cover different jobs and, in some cases, different credentials; employment, further study, location, and the size of a reporting group can all affect interpretation. Students should compare like credentials where possible and consider longer-term outcomes alongside early earnings.
UWL's career services offer a different kind of evidence: assistance rather than an employment outcome. Students can use career counseling, résumé and interview support, job-search resources, employer events, and alumni networking opportunities. An internship is not required of every undergraduate, although particular programs may require one or another form of field experience.
