CSI's reported four-year graduation rate is 27%, while its six-year rate is 46%. The difference shows why the time allowed for completion matters when comparing outcomes at a college attended by many commuters and transfer students.
The reported overall graduation measure is 34%, and first-year retention is 76%. These figures should not be treated as interchangeable: federal graduation measures can use different starting cohorts, degree levels and time windows. In particular, a first-time student graduation rate does not describe every transfer student or adult learner. The rates identify outcomes for defined groups, not the reason an individual student did or did not finish.
Applicants planning to work or attend part time should map required courses by semester. A program's course sequence, credit load and prerequisites may be more useful for estimating their own completion time than a campus-wide rate alone.
College Scorecard program-level figures show substantial variation in reported earnings approximately one year after completion. For example, the supplied figures are $97,852 for registered nursing, $58,139 for electrical engineering, $45,605 for accounting and $32,599 for communication and media studies.
These are reported median earnings for federally aided program completers with measurable earnings, not starting salaries promised to every graduate. The measurement is taken early in a career; it can reflect occupation, location, hours worked, further study and the composition of a relatively small program cohort. A program without a published figure should not be assumed to have poor outcomes.
CSI's career services are distinct from these earnings outcomes. Students can use career counseling, résumé and interview preparation, job listings, employer events and alumni connections while exploring internships and employment. No college-wide internship requirement applies to every student, although an individual major may require fieldwork.
