Published tuition is only part of the cost of an ASU Online degree. IPEDS 2024-25 figures for Arizona State University Digital Immersion report the following full-time annual undergraduate tuition and required fees; they do not include a student's living expenses.
These are figures for the 2024-25 reporting year, not a quote for a future term. Tuition for an individual ASU Online student can vary with program, credit load and current university charges. Graduate rates and program-specific charges require a separate estimate. Books or digital materials, technology, transportation for required placements, and ordinary housing and food expenses can also affect a student's budget, even when classes are online. Adding a campus residence-hall price to every online student's estimate would be misleading.
About 80% of students in the reported aid measure received some form of financial aid, and 36% had student loans. The reported average grant award to undergraduates was $9,531, but an average award is not an amount every student receives. Eligible students may pursue federal grants and loans through the FAFSA, as well as applicable ASU scholarships, employer assistance and military education benefits. The most useful comparison is the current program-specific cost estimate against an individual financial-aid offer, with loans kept separate from grants that do not normally require repayment.
Eligible ASU Online students may seek part-time employment while studying, but a job is not automatically included with admission or a financial-aid award. Federal Work-Study is a need-based aid program that funds eligible employment; students normally earn wages for hours worked rather than receiving the full award upfront.
Students interested in Work-Study should submit the FAFSA, review their aid eligibility and check ASU's student-employment listings for positions they can actually perform from their location. Ordinary student jobs may be open without a Work-Study award, while internships have separate academic and employer requirements. ASU's career services also provide resources for exploring careers, preparing résumés, interviewing and searching for internships or jobs. The availability of a particular position or event to a remote student may differ from that of a Tempe-campus student.
