Oklahoma Panhandle State University's reported graduation outcomes warrant close attention. IPEDS 2024-25 figures list an overall graduation rate of 21%, a four-year rate of 17% and a six-year rate of 20%. These are separately reported measures; they should not be added together or interpreted as one student group's year-by-year progress.
Federal graduation-rate measures generally follow defined groups of entering students over specified periods. They do not describe every student who attends, including many transfer and part-time students. The reported first-year retention rate is 56%, meaning that the measure also raises a practical question about how students progress from one year to the next.
Applicants can use these figures to ask targeted questions: How often are required courses offered? What advising is available if a student changes majors? Which credits count toward the degree? The statistics identify an important planning consideration, but they do not by themselves explain why individual students leave or take longer to finish.
College Scorecard field-of-study figures reported for October 2026 offer a limited view of earnings about one year after completion. The listed figure for registered nursing is $66,755; other reported fields include agricultural business and management at $41,164, sports and kinesiology at $38,573, and animal sciences at $25,963.
These are program-level earnings measures, not starting-salary offers or promises to future graduates. The population with measurable earnings can differ from everyone who completes a program, and the figures do not explain differences in location, occupation, hours worked, further study or prior experience. Before comparing majors, students should check the Scorecard's current measure definition and whether a figure represents enough former students to be informative.
Career preparation is a separate question from reported earnings. No university-wide internship is required of every student. Students who want experience tied to a major should ask its department about placements, supervision and any course credit, as well as what help is available with résumés, interviews and job searches.
