North American University's reported four-year graduation rate is 18%, while its reported six-year rate is 32%. These are cohort measures: they follow a defined group of first-time, full-time students over specified periods, rather than predicting the outcome of any individual applicant.
The six-year figure is below the reported national institutional average of about 51% in the comparison data. NAU's reported student retention rate is 46%, another measure worth examining because it concerns whether students continue their studies from one year to the next. Transfer students, part-time students and returning adults may not be represented in the conventional first-time, full-time graduation cohort in the same way. Applicants should ask their intended program about course availability and a realistic semester-by-semester path to completion.
Career outcomes should be assessed by program and measurement method, not treated as a salary promised by a North American University degree. Earnings measured one year after leaving college, for example, would capture an early career stage and might differ substantially by occupation, location, further education and prior work experience.
NAU reports career-center services that include individual career planning for undergraduates, résumé assistance, interview preparation, employer recruitment and job fairs. Those services describe opportunities for support, not verified earnings or employment for every graduate. When comparing programs, ask for an outcome measure that identifies the graduating class, the number of graduates included, the time since completion and whether the reported figure is a median or an average.
