For 2025-26, reported full-time undergraduate tuition and required fees total $11,309 for Texas residents and $23,963 for nonresidents. Those are published charges before grants, scholarships or other aid, and they are not the full cost of attending.
Adding the reported room-and-board and book estimates to tuition and fees produces about $23,960 for a resident or $33,800 for a nonresident. These partial estimates exclude transportation and personal expenses. Actual costs also depend on course load, housing choice, meal plan, program charges and residency classification.
Net price is a different measure: it estimates cost after grant and scholarship aid for a defined group, rather than the bill every student receives. In the reported income bands, the average net price was $12,668 for families with annual income up to $48,000 and $22,943 for families above $110,000. An individual aid offer may differ substantially.
Students seeking assistance can apply for federal aid through the FAFSA and consider eligible federal grants, loans, Texas aid and UNT scholarships. UNT reported that 90% of students received some form of financial aid in 2024-25; "aid" can include loans, which must generally be repaid. Veterans and eligible dependents may also be able to use military education benefits. Comparing the official cost-of-attendance estimate with a personal aid offer is more useful than comparing tuition alone.
UNT students can seek part-time employment as well as career-development support, but Federal Work-Study is not the same as a guaranteed campus job. Work-Study is a need-based federal aid program: eligible students must receive an award, find a qualifying position and earn wages for hours worked.
Other campus jobs may be open to students who do not have Work-Study eligibility. Available positions, schedules and hiring requirements vary by office; students should distinguish a paid job from an internship that may carry academic credit or have different compensation rules. UNT's student employment and career resources provide routes for finding openings.
UNT's Career Center offers support with career exploration, job and internship searches, résumés, interviews and employer connections, including events such as career fairs. Students can use those services while enrolled rather than waiting until graduation. Their availability does not establish that a particular applicant will receive an internship or job offer.
