Lawrence provides campus safety services that include trained personnel on patrol, emergency telephone or alarm access, late-night escort or transportation assistance, and electronically controlled residence-hall entrances. Students should learn how to request help and receive emergency notices before they need those services.
Campus safety also involves reporting and support procedures. Lawrence publishes an annual security report under the federal Clery Act and provides channels for reporting emergencies and sexual misconduct. The report is the appropriate place to examine disclosed crime statistics, their reporting periods, and the locations they cover; those figures alone cannot establish whether any individual will feel safe.
