Keck Graduate Institute is institutionally accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, commonly called WSCUC. Institutional accreditation reviews the institution as a whole; it does not mean that every professional program has the same accreditation or licensing pathway.
Professional accreditation matters separately for applicants pursuing regulated careers. KGI's Doctor of Pharmacy program has accreditation through the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education. Applicants to pharmacy, genetic counseling, physician assistant, or other clinical programs should verify the current status of their specific program with its professional accreditor and the licensing authority where they hope to practice.
Institutional accreditation is relevant to eligibility for federal student aid, but an individual student must still meet aid requirements. It also does not require another school to accept transfer credit; the receiving institution makes that decision.
Admission to KGI depends on the program. Most applicants are seeking a graduate or professional credential and should expect to document prior college study, rather than apply through a typical first-year undergraduate process.
Common application materials include an online application, transcripts from prior colleges, a statement explaining the applicant's interests, and recommendations. A clinical program may also require specified prerequisite courses, experiences, interviews, or documentation tied to patient-facing training. Applicants educated outside the United States may face additional transcript-evaluation or English-language proficiency requirements.
There is no sound institution-wide SAT, ACT, GPA, or test-score rule to apply across KGI's varied programs. Some programs use centralized professional application services, while others use a KGI application. Applicants should check the requirements and deadline for the exact credential and entering term before arranging recommendations or ordering transcripts.
Application fees at KGI should be checked by program and application route. A fee charged by a centralized professional application service may differ from one charged through a direct institutional application.
Before paying, applicants should review the instructions for their intended program and ask its admissions office whether they qualify for a waiver and whether approval must be obtained before submission. An application fee is separate from any later enrollment deposit.
ROTC is not a defining part of KGI's graduate and professional curriculum. Applicants should not assume that membership in The Claremont Colleges automatically makes them eligible for an Army, Air Force, or Navy ROTC arrangement hosted by another school.
A student interested in commissioning should ask both the relevant ROTC host program and KGI's admissions or registrar staff whether participation is permitted alongside the intended degree. Eligibility, scholarships, scheduling, and any service obligation depend on the branch and the student's circumstances.
Transferring into a KGI program is different from transferring into a conventional bachelor's degree. Applicants with previous graduate or professional coursework should first establish whether the intended program permits transfer credits at all.
Admission and credit acceptance are separate decisions. A program may admit an applicant but require them to complete its prescribed sequence of courses, particularly when accreditation standards, laboratory work, or clinical training are involved. Anyone hoping to use prior coursework should submit official transcripts and course descriptions to the program for a written, course-specific evaluation before relying on credits toward a degree.
KGI students should evaluate international opportunities within their particular degree plan rather than expect a standard semester-abroad option. Closely sequenced graduate courses and clinical placements can leave less scheduling flexibility than a traditional undergraduate curriculum.
An international research experience, internship, or individually arranged study period would require advance academic approval if it is to count toward a KGI credential. Students should confirm supervision, credit, travel requirements, and financial-aid treatment before committing to an opportunity outside the United States.
