Reported CPS completion figures warrant close attention: the overall graduation rate is 28%, while the reported four-year rate is 18% and the six-year rate is 26%, according to IPEDS 2024-25 figures. The reported student retention rate is 55%.
These measures do not all describe every CPS student. Federal graduation-rate calculations commonly follow specified entering cohorts and time windows; adult learners, part-time students and transfers can have different pathways that a single cohort measure does not fully describe. The reported overall and six-year figures should not be treated as interchangeable or added together. Students comparing programs should ask for completion and persistence outcomes for the particular degree and enrollment pattern they expect to follow.
College Scorecard program figures offer a limited view of earnings about one year after completion for federally aided students in the reported program group. They are observations about past students, not salary offers or predictions for an individual graduate.
These figures should be compared only with attention to the Scorecard's program and credential definitions. Employment status, location, prior work experience and further study can all affect earnings. The figures also do not show what students paid for their degrees, whether they changed occupations or how their earnings developed later.
