California Institute of Advanced Management is institutionally accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). Institutional accreditation evaluates the institution as a whole; it should not be confused with a separate professional accreditation for an individual business program.
For students, institutional accreditation is relevant to the recognition of a credential and can be one condition of federal financial-aid eligibility. It does not guarantee admission to another school, acceptance of transfer credit, professional licensure, or a particular job. Applicants who need a specific professional credential should check the requirements of the relevant licensing body or employer independently.
CIAM does not have an open-admission policy. Applicants should follow the requirements for the specific graduate program and applicant category rather than rely on general freshman-admission checklists.
A graduate application ordinarily calls for an application form and records documenting prior college study. Applicants should check the current program instructions for degree prerequisites, official-transcript rules, any statement or recommendation requirements, English-language proficiency documentation, and deadlines. International applicants may also need documentation for immigration purposes. Applicants should not assume that undergraduate SAT or ACT information describes admission to an MBA or doctoral program.
Applicants should confirm the application charge, if any, in CIAM's current application instructions before submitting payment. An application fee is distinct from a later enrollment deposit, tuition payment, or charge associated with an international-student process.
Anyone seeking a waiver should ask admissions whether their applicant category qualifies and whether approval is required before the application is submitted. A waiver for one charge should not be assumed to cover another.
Prospective CIAM students should not assume that Army, Air Force, or Navy ROTC instruction operates at its Alhambra location. An ROTC arrangement must be confirmed with the relevant host unit and CIAM before it is incorporated into an academic plan.
ROTC participation through another institution, where permitted, can involve travel, enrollment coordination, age or citizenship rules, medical and fitness standards, and a military service obligation. Scholarship eligibility and participation eligibility are separate questions, particularly for graduate applicants.
Students bringing previous graduate coursework should seek a program-specific transfer-credit evaluation from CIAM. Admission to a program and acceptance of a particular course toward its degree are separate decisions.
An evaluation typically depends on official transcripts and enough course information to assess content, level, credits, and recency. Before enrolling, ask for a written determination showing which courses satisfy requirements, how many CIAM credits must still be completed, and whether any prior work affects the expected graduation date. Undergraduate transfer rules should not be presumed to apply to graduate study.
Students should not plan a semester abroad or an international exchange as an automatic part of a CIAM degree. Any international coursework intended to count toward a program needs advance academic approval.
Before paying a third-party provider or arranging travel, a student should obtain a decision on course equivalency, credit limits, residency requirements, and any effect on financial aid or immigration status. Studying with an international cohort in California is different from enrolling in an approved study-abroad program.
