TJC's reported overall graduation rate in the 2024-25 IPEDS data is 27%. The figure is a useful completion indicator, but it does not mean that 73% of all TJC students left without an educational benefit.
Federal graduation-rate measures follow a defined entering group - typically first-time, full-time students seeking a degree or certificate - and count completion within a specified period, commonly 150% of a program's normal length. Part-time students, many transfer students, and students who move to another institution are not described fully by that single rate. That limitation is especially relevant at a college where transferring to a university can itself be a student's goal.
TJC's reported student-retention rate is 60%, a separate measure of continued enrollment rather than graduation. Applicants evaluating a particular program should seek its completion, transfer, or licensure-exam information where applicable; a college-wide figure may conceal substantial differences among pathways.
A TJC credential does not have one meaningful salary attached to it. Earnings after college depend on the field, the credential earned, whether a student transfers for further study, employment history, and the local labor market.
When comparing programs, students should check exactly what an earnings measure represents. A figure for former students receiving federal aid, for example, may not describe every graduate; a figure measured one year after study captures a different career stage from one measured several years later. Median earnings also differ from an average, and neither measure accounts on its own for tuition, debt, hours worked, or job satisfaction.
For career-focused programs, occupational requirements and local job postings can provide useful context alongside any program-level earnings measure. Students considering nursing or another licensed field should also separate the value of completing coursework from the further steps needed to qualify for employment, such as examination and state licensure.
