Commencement is a documented occasion for Rio Salado students completing eligible credentials. It gives graduates a shared milestone even though many may have completed much of their coursework remotely.
Other college or district academic and community events may give students opportunities to participate beyond class, but their schedules and formats can change from year to year. Rio Salado's flexible-learning history is more central to its identity than a traditional residential-college calendar of homecoming games and campuswide social traditions.
Rio Salado College does not provide college-owned or college-operated undergraduate housing. Students must arrange their own accommodation if they need to live near Tempe or another in-person class location.
Because there are no Rio Salado residence halls, applicants should not expect a first-year housing application, guaranteed placement or a residential meal plan. A cost-of-attendance estimate may include housing and food so students can plan finances or have aid eligibility calculated, but that amount is not a payment for campus room and board. Students attending entirely online may have different living arrangements while still needing to account for their own food and housing expenses.
