HPU's campus-safety planning must account for facilities spread across an urban area, not just a single residence-hall perimeter. Students should learn the reporting procedures and emergency contacts for the buildings they use, as well as how the university sends emergency notifications.
HPU publishes an annual security report under the federal Clery Act. That report is the appropriate place to review the university's stated security policies and crime statistics for specified reporting years and locations. The statistics should not be mistaken for a complete measure of every incident a student might encounter in Honolulu.
Students who experience sexual misconduct should be able to consult the university's Title IX reporting and support procedures, including information about confidential resources and formal complaints. Before relying on a particular escort service, patrol schedule, or residence-entry feature, students should confirm that it operates at their specific HPU location and at the hours they need it.
