DeVry University is institutionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, an accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Institutional accreditation applies to the university as an institution; it is not a separate accreditation of every degree or of the Lisle location alone.
Accreditation is one condition of participation in federal student aid programs, but an individual student must also meet aid-eligibility rules. It does not require another college to accept DeVry credits. Some occupations and graduate programs impose additional requirements, including programmatic accreditation, examinations, or supervised experience. Applicants pursuing a licensed profession should check the requirements of the relevant state board and the accreditation status of their specific program before enrolling.
First-time undergraduate applicants generally need an application and evidence of high school completion or an equivalent credential, such as a GED. Reported admissions requirements include a secondary-school record and GPA information. DeVry does not report an open-admission policy, so meeting basic documentation requirements should not be confused with automatic admission.
SAT and ACT scores are considered but are not required under the reported policy. Class rank, recommendations, and completion of a college-preparatory program are neither required nor recommended in the admissions information. English-proficiency evidence may be considered for applicants whose circumstances call for it, and graduate or specialized programs can set different standards. Reported first-time admissions figures show 2,787 admits from 2,833 applicants, an acceptance rate of about 98%; that figure describes a particular applicant group and is not an individual admissions guarantee. Applicants should confirm current document and start-date requirements for their intended program.
The reported undergraduate application fee is $30. An application fee is separate from tuition, enrollment-related charges, and any cost of sending official transcripts.
Applicants should check the fee displayed for their specific application and ask admissions whether a waiver applies before submitting payment. A waiver should not be assumed merely because an applicant may qualify for financial aid. Fees or waiver procedures can also differ by applicant type or change between admission cycles.
There is no established Army, Air Force, or Navy ROTC unit operated at DeVry University-Illinois, and applicants should not assume that enrollment at a nearby college's ROTC program is available through DeVry.
A student interested in commissioning should ask the relevant ROTC host institution whether it has a current cross-enrollment agreement covering DeVry students. ROTC participation, scholarship eligibility, course scheduling, and any eventual service obligation are separate questions. Admission to DeVry by itself does not establish ROTC eligibility.
DeVry generally accepts eligible transfer credit from other accredited institutions and reports transfer entry opportunities across fall, winter, spring, and summer terms. Transfer admission and the award of credit are separate decisions: acceptance to a program does not mean every previous course will satisfy a degree requirement.
Applicants should be prepared to submit official transcripts from colleges attended and any other records required for their applicant category. DeVry also reports accepting Advanced Placement credit, CLEP subject examinations, DSST examinations, and certain credit recommendations from the American Council on Education. Credit for prior learning may be possible, but it depends on the university's evaluation rules. Before enrolling, request a written, program-specific credit evaluation showing which courses meet major and general-education requirements, what remains to complete, and any minimum number of credits that must be earned through DeVry.
A DeVry-operated semester, year-long, or faculty-led study-abroad program should not be assumed to be part of the Lisle student experience. Students interested in international study need to establish whether their degree program permits it and whether an outside provider's coursework could count toward graduation.
Approval matters particularly in programs with sequenced technical courses. Before paying a third-party provider, a student should obtain written answers about transfer-credit equivalencies, enrollment status during the trip, and whether any financial aid could apply. Studying abroad through another organization is not the same as enrolling in a DeVry-sponsored exchange.
