Columbus State's reported overall graduation rate is 28% in IPEDS 2024-25 information. This is a cohort measure, not the percentage of all enrolled students who will eventually earn a credential.
Federal graduation-rate measures generally follow a defined group of first-time, full-time, degree- or certificate-seeking students through a specified completion window. They therefore do not describe every part-time student, transfer-in student, or student who moves to another institution. The reported rate is useful for comparing completion under the same definition, but it cannot by itself explain why students leave, pause, transfer, or take longer to finish.
A prospective student can make the figure more relevant by examining outcomes for the intended credential and asking how often required courses are offered. A two-year associate-degree plan, for example, can take longer when a student attends part time or must complete prerequisites.
Earnings are a useful question for Columbus State applicants, but they should be assessed by program and occupation rather than treated as one salary for the entire college. A nursing pathway, an information technology certificate, and an associate degree intended for transfer lead to different immediate employment options.
When comparing published earnings measures, students should check whether a figure is a median or an average, how long after attendance it was measured, and whether it covers all former students or only those with observable wages. Early-career earnings also leave out important differences in location, hours worked, further education, and whether someone entered the occupation for which they trained.
Columbus State offers career support including career exploration, individual counseling, résumé and interview assistance, job-search resources, and employer events. Those services can help a student investigate a field; they are not evidence that completing a program will produce a particular job or wage.
