Collin College's reported overall graduation rate is 20% in the 2024-25 institutional figures. That is a defined cohort measure, not the percentage of all people who ever take a class at Collin and eventually earn a credential somewhere.
The commonly reported federal graduation measure for a primarily two-year institution follows first-time, full-time degree- or certificate-seeking students and counts completion within 150% of a program's normal time. It can therefore leave out part-time entrants, returning adults and students who transfer before earning a Collin credential. Those exclusions matter at a college with substantial transfer activity and many students taking courses for different purposes.
The rate was 22% in the preceding reported year, but the two figures describe different entering cohorts rather than a change experienced by the same students. Applicants comparing programs may find program-level completion, licensing-exam and university-transfer outcomes more relevant than a single institution-wide percentage.
Potential earnings after Collin College depend heavily on the credential, occupation, location and whether a student continues at another institution. A college-wide salary claim would obscure those differences.
One useful comparison is the federal College Scorecard's field-of-study median earnings measure, where published. A one-year-after-completion figure refers to a specified group of former students with earnings records; it is not a starting-salary offer to every graduate. It may exclude people who are not working, are continuing their education or cannot be matched to the underlying records.
Students considering fields such as nursing, information technology, health administration or construction management should compare occupation-specific earnings with program costs, licensure requirements and local job openings. Transfer students should also remember that earnings measured after a Collin credential may not capture the later effect of a bachelor's degree earned elsewhere.
