BTC's reported overall graduation rate is 42% in the IPEDS 2024-25 reporting. That figure is a defined cohort measure, not the percentage of everyone who enrolls in any BTC class and eventually earns a credential.
IPEDS graduation-rate measures generally follow first-time, full-time, degree- or certificate-seeking students for a specified period tied to the normal length of their program. They do not describe every part-time student, transfer student or adult returning to college - groups that are relevant at a technical college. BTC's reported rate was 45% in the preceding reporting year, illustrating that results can vary by entering cohort.
For an individual decision, the institution-wide rate is a starting point. Program-level completion, licensing-exam and placement information, when available and clearly defined, may tell an applicant more about the pathway they actually intend to enter. None of these measures alone establishes why students did or did not complete.
Earnings after BTC depend heavily on the credential, occupation, location and student population being measured. An occupation's typical wage should not be presented as what a BTC graduate can expect to earn one year after completing a program.
College Scorecard program earnings measures, where published, generally describe the median earnings of a defined group of federally aided former students at a specified point after leaving school. They are not starting salaries, and they do not cover every student. Before comparing programs, check whether a figure refers to the same credential level, the same time after attendance and a sufficiently comparable group of students. Earnings also leave out considerations such as licensing success, job stability, working hours and the cost of completing the credential.
