American College of Healthcare Sciences holds institutional accreditation from the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). Institutional accreditation evaluates the college as a whole; it should not be confused with approval of a particular program for a specific professional license.
DEAC accreditation is relevant to the institution's eligibility to participate in federal student aid programs, subject to the usual program and student eligibility rules. It does not require another college to accept ACHS credits, nor does it automatically satisfy a state licensing board's educational requirements.
Applicants planning to transfer later or enter a regulated profession should obtain a written determination from the receiving college or licensing authority about the exact ACHS credential and courses they are considering. This is particularly important where a job title or clinical activity is regulated differently across states.
Degree-seeking applicants to ACHS should expect to submit an application, evidence of high school completion or an equivalent credential, and academic records. Reported admissions criteria include a secondary-school record and GPA. SAT or ACT results may be considered but are not required, while class rank and recommendations are neither required nor recommended under the reported criteria.
English-language proficiency requirements can apply to applicants whose prior education does not establish proficiency in English; the reported admissions criteria identify TOEFL as required. Graduate programs may have additional prerequisites, so an applicant should follow the requirements for the exact credential and entry term rather than assuming that undergraduate rules apply.
ACHS does not report an open-admission policy. In the reported first-time, degree-seeking applicant group, 69 of 129 applicants were admitted, an acceptance rate of about 53%. Because this is a small applicant pool, the figure can change substantially from one year to the next and should not be treated as an individual applicant's probability of admission.
Applicants should distinguish any ACHS application charge from tuition, required course fees, and charges due after admission. Before submitting an application, check the fee displayed for the specific program and application route, since charges and payment procedures can change.
Anyone who needs a fee waiver should ask the admissions office whether one applies to their applicant category and whether approval must occur before submission. Paying a nonrefundable charge first may leave no opportunity to apply a waiver afterward.
ACHS is not presented as a campus-based ROTC college, and applicants should not assume that enrollment provides access to an Army, Air Force, or Navy ROTC unit. Its predominantly online model also differs from the regular in-person training expected in ROTC.
A prospective cadet would need to ask the ROTC detachment at a potential host university whether it permits cross-enrollment by ACHS students and whether the student's degree and attendance arrangement meet its rules. ROTC scholarships and participation can carry academic, physical, citizenship, and military service requirements; admission to ACHS alone would not establish ROTC eligibility.
ACHS generally considers credits earned at other accredited institutions for transfer, but admission as a transfer student and acceptance of particular courses are separate decisions. Applicants should submit official records from previous colleges and request a course-by-course evaluation for their intended program.
Reported transfer-credit pathways also include certain Advanced Placement examinations, CLEP subject examinations, DSST/DANTES examinations, and learning evaluated through American Council on Education recommendations. The college reports that it can award credit for life experiences, but applicants should establish which assessment process applies before counting such experience toward a degree. It does not report accepting dual credit.
Transfer enrollment is reported for fall, spring, and summer terms. Students should obtain a written evaluation showing which credits satisfy general education, major, or elective requirements, along with any minimum number of credits that must be completed through ACHS. A course can transfer as credit without replacing a required course in the student's chosen program.
Students should not assume that ACHS's online programs include a semester abroad, international exchange, or overseas internship. Studying online while outside the United States is different from participating in a college-operated study-abroad program.
Anyone planning to complete coursework from another country should confirm whether their program permits it, whether any practical activities have location restrictions, and how access to course materials and examinations would work across time zones. Students considering an outside international program would also need advance written approval before assuming its credits could apply to an ACHS credential.
