Texas Christian University is a private university founded in 1873 by brothers Addison and Randolph Clark. It began as AddRan Male and Female College in Thorp Spring, Texas, with a commitment to educating women and men.

The institution later moved to Waco and adopted the Texas Christian University name in 1902. After a fire damaged its Waco campus, TCU relocated to Fort Worth in 1910.
