For 2024-25, reported full-time undergraduate tuition and required fees were approximately $2,491 for an in-state student and $9,088 for an out-of-state student. These figures combine the separately reported tuition and mandatory-fee amounts for each residency category; they are not a complete annual living budget.
Transportation, food, housing, and personal expenses can substantially change the total cost of attendance, especially for commuters and students who maintain their own households. Residency classification also matters: living in Florida does not automatically establish eligibility for in-state tuition under state rules. Part-time students should review the current per-credit schedule and course-specific charges rather than prorating the full-time estimate without checking it.
Financial aid changes what a student ultimately pays. Reported average net prices for students in lower-income groups were below published tuition-and-living-cost estimates, but a net price is an average after grant and scholarship aid, not an individual quote. Students should use their own aid offer and housing plans to build a budget and distinguish grants from loans, which must generally be repaid.
Eligible HCC students may be able to combine coursework with part-time employment, including Federal Work-Study positions. Work-Study is a need-based federal aid program awarded to qualifying students; it is not an automatic job or a grant paid merely for enrolling.
Students seeking Work-Study should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, review their aid offer, and follow the college's hiring instructions for available positions. Ordinary part-time jobs can also help cover expenses but do not require a Work-Study award. Career-related internships are different again: they may provide experience or academic credit, and their pay and eligibility depend on the position. HCC's career resources include job-search assistance, résumé preparation, interview support, and employer events, which can be useful whether or not a student receives Work-Study.
