Reported completion outcomes warrant close attention: IPEDS 2024-25 figures list an overall graduation rate of 9% and a student retention rate of 36%. Those figures are indicators to investigate, not a prediction of what will happen to any one student.
The reported four-year graduation rate is 5%, while the reported six-year rate is 6%. These measures can represent different cohorts or definitions and should not be added together. Federal graduation-rate measures commonly focus on students who enter as first-time, full-time degree seekers; that focus can leave out many adult and transfer students. The retention figure likewise measures continued enrollment for a defined group rather than eventual degree completion.
For a more relevant comparison, ask the institution for completion and persistence outcomes for the exact degree, entry route, and enrollment intensity you expect to use. Students transferring substantial credit should also request an individualized course plan showing the time and cost remaining.
College Scorecard program figures dated October 2026 report earnings measured one year after completion for certain fields of study. These are program-level observations for the population included in the federal measure, not starting-salary offers or earnings guaranteed to every graduate.
College Scorecard earnings measures generally reflect eligible federally aided completers with earnings records; they do not describe every person who entered a program. Field, credential level, previous work experience, location, and the number of people represented all affect interpretation. Compare a figure with the cost and length of the same credential, and distinguish it from a placement rate: earnings data alone cannot show whether the institution helped someone find a job.
