World Campus students may encounter Penn State traditions through virtual programming or visits to a physical campus, but participation differs from that of a residential University Park student. University-wide occasions such as Homecoming and THON are associated with Penn State's broader community; they are not events held on an online campus.
For a remote learner, the most accessible recurring activities are generally online academic, career, and student-community events. Event schedules and eligibility vary, and attendance at a University Park celebration may require travel. Students seeking a particular tradition should distinguish university-wide events from activities specifically organized for World Campus participants.
Penn State World Campus does not provide college-operated undergraduate housing or an online-campus dining hall. Students ordinarily arrange their own housing and meals wherever they live.
University Park residence halls and meal plans are designed for eligible students using that physical campus; a World Campus admission offer should not be read as a housing assignment there. If a program requires a brief visit, the student should check its travel and lodging instructions separately. Living costs may still appear in a financial-aid budget because students need somewhere to live, but a budget allowance is not a charge for a World Campus room or meal plan.
