Reported Berks completion figures show a 23% four-year graduation rate and a 30% six-year graduation rate. The reported overall graduation rate is 32%, while first-year retention is 77%. These measures answer different questions: retention tracks whether students return, while graduation rates track completion for a defined entering cohort over a specified period.
Campus-level graduation figures require particular care at Berks because Penn State students may begin at one campus and finish at another through the 2+2 pathway. A rate attributed to Berks should not automatically be read as the share of all students who began there and eventually earned a Penn State degree anywhere. Conventional first-time, full-time graduation measures also do not describe every transfer or part-time student.
Prospective students should compare the campus figure with outcomes for their intended path and ask where students in their major typically complete their degrees. The published rates alone do not establish why an individual student did or did not finish.
Field-of-study earnings figures offer a limited view of what some former students earned one year after completing a program. Reported examples include $65,376 for mechanical engineering, $51,228 for accounting and related services, and $29,652 for psychology. These are program-level, one-year measures - not starting-salary offers to every graduate.
College Scorecard earnings measures are based on eligible federally aided students whose earnings can be observed in the underlying records. Before using a figure for a Berks decision, students should check the Scorecard's exact program, credential level, cohort, and campus or institutional reporting unit; Penn State programs and reporting may extend beyond one campus. The numbers also do not account for every difference in graduate study, occupation, location, hours worked, or career progression.
Berks students can use Penn State career resources to explore majors, plan internships, and prepare for job searches. Career counseling and employer events are services; they should not be confused with verified placement or earnings outcomes.
