Reported graduation data show a 52% four-year rate and a 66% six-year rate for the relevant first-time, full-time undergraduate cohort. These are cohort measures: they follow students who began at the university under the reporting definition, rather than every undergraduate who attended during a given year.
The difference between the two rates shows why the intended time to degree matters when estimating cost. Completing in an additional year can mean more tuition or living expenses, although the figures do not explain why individual students took longer. The reported first-year retention rate is 79%, meaning roughly four in five students in its measured cohort continued into the next academic year. Transfer students, part-time students, and students in programs with different expected lengths may not be represented in the same way by these measures.
College Scorecard field-of-study figures report earnings for covered former students approximately one year after completion, not a salary guaranteed to every graduate. For example, the reported figure is $49,485 for finance and financial management services and $42,465 for accounting and related services. A reported $100,655 for allied health diagnostic, intervention, and treatment professions should not be compared with a bachelor's program figure without checking the credential level and population behind each result.
Field-of-study earnings reflect the Scorecard's defined group of federally aided former students with measurable earnings; they are not a survey of everyone who completed a program. Credential level, occupation, further study, local labor markets, and the point at which earnings are measured can all affect comparisons. A one-year figure is particularly limited for fields in which graduates commonly pursue another degree or professional training.
St. John's provides career counseling, résumé and interview support, employer events, and alumni networking opportunities. Those services may help with a job search, but their availability is not itself an employment or earnings outcome.
