Qingdao University (QDU) is one of China’s key provincial research universities. Located in the city of Qingdao in Shandong province, it is currently one of the best comprehensive higher learning institutions in the province. It is a member of the country’s Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program. It has a strong academic profile in the fields of Medical Sciences, Business, Liberal Arts, and Textile and Design. Being located in a highly cultural setting, the university is imbued with a profound sense of tradition and culture.
Qingdao University was established in 1985. It was founded with the goal to become a “high-level distinctive university.” Originally, it focused on the Arts, Science, Business, and Engineering, along with other disciplines. The construction and further development of the school were financially supported by the central government. Academically, it received support from older and more established institutions including Nankai University, Shandong University, Tianjin University, and the University of Science and Technology of China.
After years of continuous improvement, Qingdao University developed into a large-scale comprehensive institution that specializes in a wide range of disciplines across Natural Science, Social Science, and Humanities. As a result, it has garnered acclaim and recognition from society, acknowledging the high-quality education it provides. Qingdao University continues to build itself upon the basis of cultivating and invigorating talent through learning.
QDU is composed of about 25 faculties and departments that offer undergraduate programs. The courses are offered across 11 main academic disciplines: Education, Economics, Engineering, History, Law, Literature, Medicine, Management, Military Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Philosophy. There are more than 104 undergraduate degree programs on offer, as well as 209 master’s degree programs. The university also runs a graduate school, where 127 doctoral degree programs are offered. Additionally, QDU also offers professional master’s degrees in Business Management, Engineering, Dentistry, Public Health, Clinical Medicine, Law, and Public Administration.
The university is divided into 35 schools and colleges, which include the School of Law, School of Life Sciences, School of Physical Sciences, School of Physical Education, College of Teacher Education, School of Chinese Language and Literature, School of Foreign Language Education, School of Politics and Public Administration, and School of International Studies, to name a few. Since its establishment, QDU has already welcomed more than 10,000 international students.
Our research was coordinated by Imed Bouchrika, PhD, a computer scientist with a well-established record
of collaboration on a number of international research projects with different partners from the academic
community. His role was to make sure all data remained unbiased, accurate, and up-to-date.
