The focus of our Economics and Finance research
Research.com’s best universities ranking is a reliable lineup of
leading scholars from the field of Economics and Finance,
based on a thorough analysis of
166,880 researchers discovered from various
bibliometric data sources. For the field of Economics and Finance, as many as
8163 scholars were examined.
What is D-index acceptance threshold for Economics and Finance
The D-index threshold for accepting a scientist to be
considered is placed at 30 if
most of their publications are in the area of Economics and Finance. The
approval factors for researchers to be
considered into the ranking of top scholars are based on the D-index,
proportion of the publications made within the selected
field of study as well as the awards and achievements of the
scientists. The D-index threshold for including leading
researchers is set as an increment of 10 depending on the total number of
scientists projected for each
area od study whilst making sure that the top 1% of
best scientists are added into the ranking.
We estimate a proximity of 30% or less between a scientist’s
general H-index and their D-index.
Extra verification rules
Since our leading mission is to ensure that only
genuine scientists are listed in
our ranking we believe that raw data are never
supposed to be a complete tool to quantify the
output of researchers. Because of that
we manually check every profile and cross-correlate it against publications in a
broad range of trustworthy sources. While it’s not a
factor contributing to a scholar’s position in
our ranking, the amount of documents published in
prominent journals and conference proceedings should be a
valuable secondary signal of their contribution to research in a
specific discipline. Position in the ranking is
established using every researcher’s D-index
with the help of metrics compiled from OpenAlex and
CrossRef, which are the most credible and well-established bibliometric
databases of this kind accessible to the scientific community. A
thorough definition of our research process
can be found on our
methodology page.
Our agenda
Our mission is to inspire scholars,
companies and administrative bodies
around the world to examine where prominent experts are heading
and to provide a way for the entire research community to
get to know who the leading experts in specific
disciplines, in different countries, or even within research
institutions are.
