The university ranking for computer science was developed by Research.com, one of the prominent platforms for computer science research maintaining reliable data on scientific contributions since 2014, with the aim of answering the question of what is the best computer science university.

The position in the ranking is based on a sum of h-index values of all leading computer science researchers affiliated with a given university. The h-index threshold for being considered a leading scientist was set to 40 provided that the majority of their publications are in the area of computer science.
