The last year was an exciting time for the semiconductor industry with an increased demand for new wearable products, but new challenges in efficient management of energy consumption. Battery size, durability and low threshold charging are key issues as each new generation of wearable devices include accelerometers, gyroscopes, heart rate sensors, microphones, speakers, barometric altimeters, ambient light sensors, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, and optional LTE and new IoT-inspired features.

The aim of this theme issue is explore emerging issues in power management for wearables based on advances in computational engineering, information science and ultra-low power design.

Topics include but are not limited to:

• Computational Engineering
• DNN Architectures for mobile and wearable devices
• Energy harvesting and management
• IoT security features to including encryption and authentication
• Implantable and wearable devices for biomedical monitoring applications
• Power, performance and temperature modeling
• Low-voltage circuits for Internet of Things (IoT) applications
• Low-voltage low-power Systems on Chip (SoC)
• Reconfigurable system architecture
• Theory, design and new applications of low-voltage, low-power circuits
• Ultra low-power wearables

Submissions

Submissions should be original papers and should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Extended versions of papers from relevant conferences and workshops are invited as long as the additional contribution is substantial (at least 30% of new content).
