Call for Papers:Business digital transformation is changing the nature of work creating new business models, new organizational structures and new models for entrepreneurship. The growth of emerging markets is reshaping the geography of economic opportunities and creates social and technological changes. Both practitioners and academics have highlighted the need for novel management approaches in the digital age.In this view, as companies that compete in a more agile way in a disruptive world have been redefined due to the 4th (Industrial) Revolution and rapidly evolving technologies such as AI, Cloud, IOT, Robotics, Machine Learning, Blockchain have redefined, CIOs and CEOs try to find out what new strategies, organizational structures, and managerial skills they will need to compete in a dynamic and competitive landscape.The purpose of this special issue is to disseminate recent scientific advances in the field of Operational Research and Business Intelligence that drive digital transformation in a broad spectrum of business areas. This special issue aims to collect a high-quality selection of contemporary research articles on the described theme. Also, it aims to answer the strategy questions of scholars and practitioners regarding the importance and the effects of digital transformation both for the private and public sector. We welcome research articles that promote Operational Research or Business Intelligence approaches for digital transformation adopting either a theoretical or an empirical approach. This call for papers encourages submission of work that examines Operational Research with applications in several business areas (e.g., agrifood, banking, cultural heritage, e-business, economics, education, energy, finance, health, ICT, public sector, retail, tourism) in support of various business operations (e.g., human resources, logistics, marketing and sales, production, innovation, strategic planning) by means of methodological tools or techniques such as (but not limited to) the following:agent-based modeling, big data and business analytics, data envelopment analysis, data mining, decision support systems, fuzzy systems, game theory, heuristics, metaheuristics and nature inspired optimization algorithms, linear and nonlinear programming, machine learning, multiple criteria decision analysis, network design, optimization, queuing theory, simulation, and statistics.

Guest Editor Bios:Pavlos Delias is a tenured faculty member at the International Hellenic University (www.ihu.gr), Department of Accounting and Finance. He holds a jointly supervised PhD from both Technical University of Crete and University Paris Dauphine, under a cotutelle agreement. Pavlos Delias has been invited as a visiting Professor in several universities (national as well as international). He has contributed to numerous research projects, focusing on applying the principles of business analytics and operational research to decision support systems design and use. He is also a member of the coordination board of the EURO working group on Decision Support Systems. His research interests are in the areas of business process analytics, business analytics and operational research, and multiple criteria analysis.

Fotis Kitsios is associate professor in business strategy and innovation management at the Department of Applied Informatics, School of Information Sciences, University of Macedonia, Greece. He is currently a Member of the Information Systems and e-Business (ISeB) Laboratory of the University of Macedonia. He holds a PhD in strategic innovation management with a specialization in services from Technical University of Crete. He has consulted several SMEs and has also been involved in the implementation and coordination of European research projects. He has been invited as a visiting Professor in several universities in Greece and Cyprus. He published more than 150 articles in scientific journals, books, and conference proceedings and he acts as a reviewer of more than 30 scientific journals. He is also an editorial board member of several scientific journals. His research interests focus on business strategy, digital entrepreneurship, service innovation management, strategic information systems and digital transformation.
