Special Issue Call for Papers


The recent trends and advancements in intelligent computing, in terms of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, especially Deep Learning (DL) techniques, have created a significant impact in different industrial sectors and Internet of Things (IoT) based applications. In the next generation embedded IoT paradigm, fast computation and high communication capacity are obvious requirements for sensor network perspective, to collect a huge amount of data, processing and model through advanced training purposes. The advanced AI techniques are capable of accomplishing these demands with sustainable and secure hardware facilities. The different powerful hardware such as FPGAs and GPUs are nowadays used for intensive model training in cloud. With the advent of massive IoT, 6G and Beyond 6G (B6G), some problems are associated with implementation and execution which includes tasks like data processing on resource-constrained edge devices due to the increasing advancement of intelligent computing techniques. Therefore, this Special Issue (SI) seeks to bring attention of academic and industrial researchers to address the challenges associated with implementing advanced AI and DL methods in edge computing and next generation embedded IoT use cases for resource constrained infrastructure. Topics include (but not limited to):

Dr. Mahmoud Daneshmand is CoFounder and Professor of Department of Business Intelligence & Analytics; and Professor of Department of Computer Science at Stevens Institute of Technology. He has more than 40 years of Industry & University experience as Professor, Researcher, Assistant Chief Scientist, Executive Director, Distinguished Member of Technical Staff, Technology Leader, Chairman of Department, and Dean of School at: Bell Laboratories; AT&T Shannon Labs– Research; University of California, Berkeley; University of Texas, Austin; Sharif University of Technology; University of Tehran; New York University; and Stevens Institute of Technology. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley; M.S. and B.S. degrees in Mathematics from the University of Tehran.

Biography



Professor Rubén González Crespo, Ph.D., is the deputy director of the School of Engineering at the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja. Professor of Project Management and Engineering of Web sites. He is honorary professor and guest of various institutions such as the University of Oviedo and University Francisco José de Caldas. Previously, he worked as Manager and Director of Graduate Chair in the School of Engineering and Architecture at the Pontifical University of Salamanca for over 10 years. He has participated in numerous projects I + D + I such as SEACW, GMOSS, eInkPlusPlusy among others. He advises a number of public and private, national and international institutions. His research and scientific production focuses on accessibility, web engineering, mobile technologies and project management. He has published more than 80 works in indexed research journals, books, book chapters and conferences.

Biography:



Qin Xin graduated with his Ph.D (Oct. 2002 – Oct. 2004) in Department of Computer Science at University of Liverpool, UK in December 2004. Currently, he is working as a FULL professor of Computer Science in the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of the Faroe Islands (UoFI), Faroe Islands. Prior to joining UoFI, he had held variant research positions in world leading universities and research laboratory including Senior Research Fellowship at Universite Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, Research Scientist/Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Simula Research Laboratory, Norway and Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at University of Bergen, Norway. His main research focus is on design and analysis of sequential, parallel and distributed algorithms for various communication and optimization problems in wireless communication networks, as well as cryptography and digital currencies including quantum money. Moreover, he also investigates the combinatorial optimization problems with applications in Bioinformatics, Data Mining and Space Research. Currently, Prof. Dr. Xin is serving on Management Committee Board of Denmark for several EU ICT projects. Prof.Dr. Xin has produced more than 70 peer reviewed scientific papers. His works have been published in leading international conferences and journals, such as ICALP, ACM PODC, SWAT, IEEE MASS, ISAAC, SIROCCO, IEEE ICC, Algorithmica, Theoretical Computer Science, Distributed Computing, IEEE Transactions on Computers, Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing, IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, and Advances in Space Research. He has been very actively involved in the services for the community in terms of acting (or acted) on various positions (e.g., Session Chair, Member of Technical Program Committee, Symposium Organizer and Local Organization Co-chair) for numerous international leading conferences in the fields of distributed computing, wireless communications and ubiquitous intelligence and computing, including IEEE MASS, IEEE LCN, ACM SAC, IEEE ICC, IEEE Globecom, IEEE WCNC, IEEE VTC, IFIP NPC, IEEE Sarnoff and so on. He is the Organizing Committee Chair for the 17th Scandinavian Symposium and Workshops on Algorithm Theory (SWAT 2020, Torshavn, Faroe Islands). Currently, he also serves on the editorial board for more than ten international journals.

Biography:



Masoud Daneshtalab (http://www.idt.mdh.se/~md/) is currently a Professor at Mälardalen University (MDH) and leads the Heterogeneous System research group (www.es.mdh.se/hero/). He joined KTH as European Marie Curie Fellow in 2014. Before that, he was a university lecturer and group leader at University of Turku in Finland from 2012-2014. He has represented Sweden in the management committee of the EU COST Actions IC1202: Timing Analysis on Code-Level (TACLe). Since 2016 he is in Euromicro board of Director and a member of the HiPEAC network. His research interests include interconnection networks, hardware/software co-design, deep learning acceleration and evolutionary optimization. He has published 2 book, 8 book chapters, and over 200 refereed international journals and conference papers within H-index 28. He has served in Technical Program Committees of all major conferences in his area including DAC, NOCS, DATE, ASPDAC, ICCAD, HPCC, ReCoSoC, SBCCI, ESTIMedia, VLSI Design, ICA3PP, SOCC, VDAT, DSD, PDP, ICESS, Norchip, MCSoC, CADS, EUC, DTIS, NESEA, CASEMANS, NoCArc, MES, PACBB, MobileHealth, and JEC-ECC. He has co-led several research projects including: SafeDeep, AutoDeep, DeepMaker, DESTINE, PROVIDENT, HERO, AGENT, CUBRIC, ERoT, and µBrain with a total estimation of 114 MSEK (11 MEuro).

Biography:



Dr. Amrit Mukherjee (M’15) obtained a Ph.D. from KIIT University, India, in 2017. He is currently working in School of Electronics and Information Engineering, Anhui University, Hefei, PR China. He was a Post-Doc Research Fellow in School of Computer Science and Communication Engineering, Jiangsu University, PR China from May 2018-June 2020. He has worked in C-DAC (Armenia and Ghana) as Project Engineer. He has published more than 60 research articles, 1 patent published and submitted 3 patents filed under review. Also, he has been a reviewer in many IEEE journals and other prestigious conferences. He also served special issue guest editor for Computer Communications; Multimedia Tool and Applications; Journal of System Architecture; Computers, Material and Continua; and IEEE Internet of Things Journal. His area of interests include Artificial Intelligence, next generation IoT systems, Wireless Sensor Networks, Cognitive Radio, and signal processing.
