The use of the Internet of Things (IoT) and related technologies across different application domains has significantly increased in the last decade. Ever-more complex and heterogeneous smart IoT environments are currently available and generate an enormous amount of data, thus calling for appropriate \"tools\" to effectively process and exploit such abundancy of information. In this light, the research community in data mining and computational intelligence is responding with \"intelligent\" solutions, allowing developers and practitioners for the analysis of large volumes of both structured and unstructured data. Indeed, recent advances in such fields make it possible to detect in non-obvious patterns hidden in multivariate time series, images and all possible data gathered from complex IoT ecosystems.
This Special Issue aims to foster novel contributions in this subject area and collect the state-of-the-art of all methods based on computational intelligence and data mining for the IoT and its applications.
